What is a malasada?
Pronounced Ma-la-sa-dah, this donut originated in Portugal and found itʻs way to Hawaiʻi back in the plantation days. Pipeline malasadas have a crisp, golden exterior and a soft, fluffy interior. Get them coated in a variety of sugar flavors for the perfect treat. Weʻll be announcing filling flavors very soon!
All of our dough is made from scratch and fried to perfection without any greasiness. You wonʻt find any of our malasadas in a pastry case—they’re made fresh to order and served straight from the kitchen. Come in (e komo mai) and enjoy Hawaiiʻs Favorite Donut™.

Our Story
Our malasada journey began in 2015 when Gayla Young set out to create a bakery dedicated to local island treats, with malasadas taking center stage. After a year of testing and perfecting over 100 recipes, she opened Pipeline Bakeshop & Creamery in Kaimuki on the island of ʻOahu, quickly earning rave reviews from both locals and visitors. While the bakeshop is also known for its signature Cake Bomb®, homemade ice cream, and pastries, the Pipeline malasada remains the most popular and beloved item.
We began shipping our malasadas nationwide in 2019 before COVID-19 and recently began International shipping to Canada in 2024.
After 8 successful years in Hawaiʻi, Gayla and her team are bringing their best-selling item, the Pipeline Malasada, to Las Vegas, Nevada—opening the city’s very first dedicated malasada shop.
